Despite Economy, Training Investment Remains Steady

industries. The average annual training expenditure for employees in the study was $1004. In contrast, the ASTD study reported a steady $820 for the past two years, with large enterprises investing upwards of $1190. Learning TRENDS also queried IT organizations which reported $1292/employee

ASTD’s Study also reported:
Percentage of payroll invested in learning at 2.52% on average, with largest enterprises reporting 1.99%
Use of external services expenditures averaged 27% with largest reporting 36%
Hours of formal learning/employee: 28, and 38 for large companies
Employees per trainer 194, and 325 for large enterprises
Cost/learning hour was $596/hour, and $1430 for large companies.
